Ainul Mardhiah Ahmad Safiuddin, a baby girl with a sizable cancerous tumor covering her mouth, is being flown to the UK for treatment. Despite receiving chemotherapy since she was three months old, the growth of the tumor has shown little signs of slowing down.
The family, residing in Ayer Molek, south-western Malacca State, Malaysia, has expressed immense gratitude to the generous individuals who contributed funds for Ainul’s treatment. They eagerly await the processing of tickets from Malaysia Airlines (MAS) to commence their journey to London.
Ainul’s father, Ahmad Safiuddin Ahmad Razak, remains hopeful and positive despite the risks involved in transporting Ainul to London. He hopes for a safe journey and numerous prayers for his little girl’s well-being.
Two doctors from a private hospital in Malaysia will accompany the family to London, where they will be greeted by another medical professional upon arrival. However, the specific hospital where Ainul will receive treatment in London has not been disclosed.
Ainul will undergo an MRI scan in London, following which a treatment plan will be devised. The results of an MRI conducted in Malaysia were inconclusive. Despite chemotherapy, Ainul’s tumor continues to grow, causing her to become increasingly less active and restricting her mobility.
Ainul’s condition is attributed to an extragonadal germ-cell tumor, a rare occurrence where cancer develops from germ cells outside of the ovaries or testicles. These tumors typically manifest in areas such as the brain, the back of the abdomen, or the chest between the lungs.
Treatment for extragonadal germ-cell tumors varies depending on the type of tumor and may involve chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, or a combination of these methods.
