Enough is enough. Stop wasting tax payers money! The Democrats need to let this one go. It’s time to suck it up and start doing the jobs they are paid and appointed to. It’s like a three ring circus at the tax payers expense.
The President said it was time to put an end to ‘costly and time consuming investigations’ even as Democrats planned to haul Mueller to Capitol Hill to testify before the House Judiciary Committee.
‘After two years of hard work and each party trying their best to make the other party look as bad as possible, it’s time to get back to business,’ he tweeted.
President Trump made an appeal for political unity on Friday as he urged Democrats and Republican to work together on border control and infrastructure following the Mueller report
‘Republicans and Democrats must come together for the good of the American people,’ he added.
Trump also repeated his mantra that there was no collusion between his 2016 election campaign and Russia, and said the Mueller report showed ‘they were rebuffed at every turn in attempts to gain access.’
In fact the report showed that Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in Trump Tower in the hopes of getting dirt on Hillary Clinton, though it ultimately turned out to be a hoax.
Trump’s plea came at the end of a bruising week in which Attorney General Bill Barr was brought before the Senate on Wednesday and questioned over his handling of the report.
Of particular concern was a four-page summary of the report that Barr published ahead of a redacted version of the report itself.
It was revealed ahead of the hearing that Mueller sent Barr a letter accusing him of causing ‘confusion’ over the report’s findings and undermining public confidence.
Barr repeatedly clashed with Democrats during the hearing, then refused to attend a follow-up questioning session by the Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee.
Jerry Nadler, head of the committee, had a porcelain chicken placed on his desk while Democrat representatives ate KFC in an attempt to paint him as a coward.
Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi accused Barr of lying to Congress in sworn testimony last month when.
The House Speaker pointed out that Barr had responded that he ‘didn’t know’ when asked about why Mueller’s team was frustrated over his handling of the report.
In fact, Pelosi argues, the letter from Mueller to Barr means he knew precisely why the Special Counsel’s team was getting impatient.
‘He lied to Congress. He lied to Congress. If anybody else did that, it would be considered a crime,’ Pelosi told reporters.
‘Nobody is above the law. Not the President of the United States and not the attorney general.’
Elsewhere, Nadler said that Democrats are close to reaching a deal with Mueller to have him testify before the judiciary committee, subject to setting a date.
‘We’ll see if they do that, sometime in May,’ he said.
Nadler’s committee is reviewing Mueller’s investigation into Russian election interference in 2016 and possible attempts by Trump to impede the investigation.
