President Trump delivered his now long- awaited State of the Union Address Tuesday night but not everyone was pleased – especially with his urging the Congress to put drug cartels and human traffickers out of business. You wonder how any member of Congress would not applaud the stopping of women and children being sold into sex slavery, but it happened tonight.
The big announcement, however, was when Trump proclaimed that the wall had been voted on, and funded, but never ‘properly built.’ “I will get that wall properly built,” drew huge applause, but Nancy Pelosi seemed to not be listening at all. Chuck Schumer sat and fidgeted. Democrats grimaced. The President announced he is sending more troops to the border to confront a new caravan and their were audible groans from open-border supporters. “Tolerance for illegal immigration is cruel” said the President before launching into how women and child are exploited, assaulted and sold into prostitution.
Sitting behind the President alongside a smiling Vice-President Pence, Senator Pelosi from California – now Speaker of the House once again, seemed unimpressed by even his wish for the government to work for all Americans.
There was so much good news delivered that even the Speaker was forced to stand and clap a few times, albeit with a smirk that would make a Covington teenager laugh. Trump mentioned “ridiculous partisan investigations,” and that is when Nancy Pelosi nearly fell out of character, leaning sideways and rolling her eyes. She repeatedly seemed to be reading from large white cards while Veterans were being supported, American workers were being praised and Trump spoke of bi-partisan accomplishments, including prison-reform.
Alice Johnson, who served 22 years of a life sentence for a first-time drug offense was in attendance and Trump spoke of her, introduced her and waited for members of the Democrat Party, some sitting just behind Ms. Johnson to sit silently during her tearful praise.
These are bad Americans, folks. Trump pardoned her. Democrats don’t care. It’s more important to show you never stand when Trump is speaking.
When Trump introduced three Veterans of World War 2 who stormed the beaches to save our civilization, I was shocked there were still some Democrats sitting on their hands. These are the worst of the worst. Ocasio Cortez sat with a frown as President Trump hailed the American people and asked us to “choose greatness.”
Buzz Aldrin saluted the President as The Speaker pursed her lips and Elizabeth Warren sat through the nearly unanimous standing ovation. Democrats hurried looked at each other as America was praised and tried to figure out whether or not to stand. A member of the Black Caucus was texting throughout the tributes.
So strong was the vitriol, that even when forced to stand when Trump announced there were more women serving in Congress than ever before, The President said to them, “you’re not supposed to do that” – referring to them standing and applauding. I think he charmed them. Even OAC smiled.
She could swallow an end table.
President Trump trolled the Democrats earlier in the day by when the Drudge Report labelled him the ‘Teflon Donald’ Ahead of State of the Union address.

“Teflon Don” was first derived in the 1980’s and 1990’s and refers to New York mob boss John Gotti, but this seemed like good fun for Trump. The numbers are not in, but many predicted a higher number of people watching than the not so Super Bowl on Sunday.
Trump talked about how America is greater since his election and how both parties, seeking to destroy this progress are doing everything they can to stop the will of the people on immigration, jobs, production and wealth creation.
Democrats mostly sat on their hands while the President rattled off history making numbers in America’s favor: Wages rising fast, blue collar workers benefiting the most. Nearly 5 million Americans have been lifted off Food Stamps, yet Pelosi could not applaud that. Bernie Sanders appeared to be sleeping.
Minority unemployment at the lowest levels ever recorded, but no applause from Pelosi or The Black Caucus. Vast swaths of Representatives in white coats looking around in grimacing silence as Trump spoke of record low female unemployment.
Meanwhile, The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll today showed that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. We would report the numbers on Congress, but they are too small to measure.
The biggest groans from Democrats came during Trump’s vow to end the Obamacare individual mandate. That came over the displeasure of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who seemed to be keeping score or writing down names during the entire speech. It was good news for Americans, good news for all except Democrats. They are nothing more than petulant children.
This was Donald Trump’s first SOTU address to Congress with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) literally sneering over his shoulder. It was originally scheduled for Jan. 29, but Pelosi refused to let Trump use the House chamber while the government was partially shut down.
The speech is now occurring during a three-week reprieve in which Congress is supposed to figure out how to fund the government and secure the southern border in a way that both Trump and Democrats can support. Everything has changed now and I wonder how Americans will react to Democrats not reacting to good news once again.
Many Democrats who boycotted Trump’s speech last year did so again. Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) stated: “The thought of spending Tuesday night in the House Chamber listening to the reckless, self-centered man who occupies the White House holds no interest for me. Just like in past years, I plan to skip a speech that will be filled with lies, deception and divisiveness.”
So much for unity.
Some background: Last year, Democrats on the SOTU night took their ‘resistance’ to President Trump to new lengths, with many refusing to even applaud or stand to acknowledge economic gains or an honoring of veterans.
“It was amazing to watch,” Donald Trump Jr. told Fox News’ Sean Hannity after the speech, saying it looked like Democrats wanted to stand but felt obligated to oppose his father.
Why are @TheDemocrats not applauding job growth, higher wages and the drop in Latino and African-American unemployment?
I thought economic success is good for everyone regardless of party. #SOTU

As congressional negotiators try to stop another shutdown by working something out on border security, Trump has made it clear he could declare a national emergency if he doesn’t get a border wall out of it. The deadline is February 15th.
I’m getting used to this guy being POTUS.
