Being single and dating is hard for some young couples. They often turn towards using social media tools and online dating sites to find success. Even with using sites like ‘Match.com’, ‘OkCupid’, ‘eHarmony’or even ‘Tinder’, online dating can be challenging for some.
Dating site ‘Match’ told Business Insider that July tends to be one of its busiest months. Match’s chief scientific adviser, Helen Fisher, said that might be because summertime is the mating season in many species – and even though humans breed all year long, “increasing light does give us a sunny personality and more energy and optimism – all of which could increase our sexuality.”
But even with July being the busiest month, just joining an online site can be challenging. You have to enter all your personal and social data that you want everyone else to see. You often wade through scores of pictures and profiles of people that is outdated. Then, when you finally find the right match or date, it might takes months for you to even meet them.
For one couple, it took 3 years, but now their story has gone viral.
Josh Avsec, 22, and Michelle Arendas, 21 met on Tinder in 2014.
They are both students at Kent State University in Ohio.
When they first met on Tinder, almost 3 years ago, they quietly exchanged messages. It’s amazing being students at the same university that they never met or ran into each other until now.
Josh shared their story on Twitter earlier this month.
Of course, like anything else, once the story got out there, Tinder did what any good business would do, they capitalized on it. The story caught the eye of Tinder staff, then Josh and Michelle were offered a trip of their choice for their first date. Talk about a perfect marketing opportunity for Tinder.
The couple chose Hawaii.
However, before jetting off to the big island in the Pacific, the couple appeared on Good Morning America and met each other in person for the first time in over 3 years of their online dating experience.
Almost like the ‘Dating Game’ all over again, except they’ve already eliminated the other dates.
While on ‘Good Morning America’, Josh and Michelle answered questions about each other separated by a partition wall.
The GMA hosts, Michael Strahan and Lara Spencer were just as excited about the couple meeting as everyone else.
Then, it was time for them to meet.
Josh wasted no time. He sprang out of his chair, walked around the partition to meet his lovely date and wrapped his arms around her, after meeting her for the first time in person.
Talk about a cute couple.
‘It is so good to finally meet you Michelle,’ he said bashfully, adding: ‘I’m blushing like crazy!‘
How cool is THAT! To finally meet your date from Tinder on ‘live’ TV in front of thousands of viewers on a top rated show. Then, to top it off, you get a week in Hawaii from Tinder! That just doesn’t happen to the average on-line date.
Of course, the love story has gone viral since Josh shared the story on Twitter.
Twitter users responded with pleas of ‘please get married!’ and ‘can I be third wheel?’
Evidently, Michelle let the joke carry on for so long out of stubbornness.
‘I’m stubborn and I wasn’t going to be the one to ruin a good joke like that. I’m stubborn and I’m committed to my sense of humor, that was definitely it for me.
‘I didn’t want to be the one to break the joke.’
Sounds like Josh and Michelle are a perfect match made on Tinder.
As the Elvis Presley song says,
Love me ‘Tinder,
Love me sweet,
Never let me go.
You have made my life complete.
And I love you so.
