If you watch Britain’s Got Talent, you may have seen the recent news on a star who recently passed away.
Pudsey, 11, died after suffering from blood cancer. His owner, Ashleigh Butler won the talent show with the dog in 2012. She’s absolutely ‘heartbroken’ by Pudsey’s recent death.
Pudsey was put down after suffering from acute leukemia.
Ashleigh wrote on Instagram,
‘I can’t honestly believe I am writing these words. My handsome man has gone, and I don’t know what to do without him.
‘My heart is broken, and I don’t know how I’m going to get through this. It hurts so much, that my handsome, incredible Pudsey Bear will never be by my side, where he belongs, again.’
Ashleigh went on to say,
‘We only had 11 years together, but they were the best years ever. He was my one in a billion dog that will never be replaced.
‘I don’t need to write all of his endless accomplishments on here to prove how incredible he was for me. Sleep tight my handsome man, I love you lots.’
You see Ashleigh and Pudsey, together were a British dog trick act. Ashleigh Butler was the trainer and Pudsey was a male mixed breed dog, part Border Collie, Bichon Frise and Chinese Crested.
In their audition they danced to The Flintstones soundtrack in April.
Judge Simon Cowell said “Pudsey is one of the best dancing dogs I’ve ever seen”.
After winning, they went on to their first semi-final in May 2012, performing to Peppy and George. Following which, in the final they performed to the Mission: Impossible theme and won the 2012 series.
What was pretty cool after that was, Ashleigh and Pudsey, performed also for Queen Elizabeth II as part of the prize for winning the 2012 Britain’s Got Talent show.
Since Pudsey’s death, tributes have flooded in.
Winner for the 2008 series George Sampson lead the tributes on social media, writing:
‘RIP my little mate, you were and will always be a superstar’, next to a photograph of the two together.
One Twitter user, called Hannah, saying: ‘I can’t believe Pudsey the dog has died.’
Kirsty Smith wrote: ‘Oh how awful!! My heart breaks for her. I can’t imagine losing my little one. Go chase them squirrels in the sky #pudsey.’
Another Twitter user, known as B, wrote: ‘Pudsey the dancing dog has died and I’m having flashbacks to when I learnt Pippin from Come Outside (a television show) was dead’
Two others posted:
Josie Marie tweeted:
‘My heart goes out you. I lost 3 & my 12 is terminally Ill. It is heartbreaking. Remember the bond X’
Lee said: ‘Pudsey the dog died and I didn’t think I’d be this upset but I am truly heartbroken’
The Britain’s Got Talent duo also became a popular fixture on the pantomime circuit – including an appearance as Dorothy and Toto in The Wizard of Oz in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear.
Miss Butler’s mother, Penny, wrote: ‘We, as a family, had to make the hardest decision yesterday to let Pudsey go to sleep.
‘We are absolutely devastated and in shock with how quick this has all happened, and our hearts are broken.
‘We would have done anything to keep him with us, even for a little longer, but he didn’t have any more time as acute leukemia made us take the heart breaking decision to end his pain.
God Bless little Pudsey…a winner in the hearts of many and still certainly one special dog with talent!
Our hearts and prayers are with Ashleigh, her family and all of Pudsey’s fans.
