Bush and Clinton White House Press Secretaries Back Decision to Cut Cameras!

The former press secretaries for Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton said Wednesday they support ending the practice live cameras covering White House press briefings.

CNN reporter Jim Acosta had nastily confronted White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer over a decision not allowing cameras at the briefing and the MSM went wild.

But now bi-partisan support seems to be gathering around Spicer.

“We support no live TV coverage of WH briefing. Embargo it & let it be used, but not as live TV,” former Clinton press secretary Mike McCurry and former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer said in identical tweets. “Better for the public, the WH & the press.”

McCurry and Fleischer have been making the case to embargo footage. To not make it available for live broadcast from White House press briefings for months.

“If the briefing is ‘embargoed’ until its conclusion, it will become just one of several raw ingredients that journalists can use to prepare their reports on the work of the president and the White House,” the two wrote in a joint op-ed published in January in the Columbia Journalism Review.

Just weeks into his new administration, former President Bill Clinton’s administration decided to turn off the cameras for most of George Stephanopolous’ press briefings.

Fox News’ Brit Hume eloquently explained that the last place big journalists should be getting their news from is a press briefing. The big MSM can get their calls returned personally from the White House. The briefings were not designed for CNN, they were designed for smaller news organizations.

Not only that, Brit Hume laughed, “You don’t want to give out your best question at a press briefing! Don’t give it all away!”

He explains that on camera press briefings were not the norm too long ago.

Nothing Draconian is happening at the White House Hume points out.

The MSM has become unhinged.
