First Son Donald Trump, Jr. has very few accomplishments of his own. His entire livelihood is underwritten by the Trump Organization, which he has been tasked to manage with his brother Eric, while their father supposedly looks away.
While Trump, Jr. may not be the success his famous father is, they do have one thing in common: they are both now embroiled in Russian scandals.
In a turn of events that makes President Trump’s plausible deniability about Russia that much more implausible, Trump Jr. was caught taking $50,000 to give a talk in front of a group of Vladimir Putin supporting Syrian expatriates in Paris during the campaign last year. This is not Trump, Jr.’s first engagement with Putin’s high-powered circle. In 2008, Trump, Jr. delivered a keynote address at a large real estate conference in Russia.
Reported the Wall Street Journal about Trump, Jr.’s most recent contacts with Putin’s allies, “Donald Trump Jr. addressed a dinner on Oct. 11 at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, hosted by the Center of Political and Foreign Affairs. Its president, Fabien Baussart, and his Syrian-born wife, Randa Kassis, have cooperated with Russia in its drive to end the Syrian civil war, according to U.S., European and Arab officials. The younger Trump was likely paid at least $50,000 for his Paris appearance by the Center of Political and Foreign Affairs. The Trump Organization didn’t dispute that amount when asked about it by The Wall Street Journal. ‘Donald Trump Jr. has been participating in business-related speaking engagements for over a decade—discussing a range of topics including sharing his entrepreneurial experiences and offering career specific advice,’ said Amanda Miller, the Trump Organization’s vice president for marketing.” How deep do you think Trump and his family’s ties to Russia go?
