Looks like the HGTV ‘Fixer Up’ Stars Chip and Joanna can add one more venture to their resume. Currently they are known as designers, business owners, house flippers, bakery owners and parents. Now you can add restaurant owners to their resume.
Chip and Joanna Gaines live with their family in Waco, Texas. It seems last year one of their favorite local restaurants closed – the Elite Café. It was then that Chip and Joanna decided upon their new business venture.
The restaurant had been a historical landmark in Waco for almost 100 years. The Gaines will rename the restaurant after their business. It will soon be known as Magnolia Table. Chip and Joanna Gaines hope to serve breakfast, lunch and brunch.
In Joanna’s blog she wrote:
“We’ve spent a good amount of time finalizing the design of the new restaurant, from carefully choosing finishes, textures and paint colors, to designing the tables, chairs and light fixtures. I love getting to bring all of the design details together.”
“Chip and I truly can’t wait to share this place with y’all. We will occasionally share some updates on social media, so keep a lookout for pictures of the progress!”
“Figuring out how to restore the building and seamlessly incorporate new and creative design elements into the mix while staying true to the original features has been one of my favorite parts of the design process. And Chip is rocking and rolling on the construction side of things.”
The Elite Café had a comfortable and welcoming feel. Chip and Joanna hope to recreate that in their new restaurant, the Magnolia Table.
“We want everyone, whether you’re part of the building’s past or not, to walk in and instantly feel the rich history of it,” Joanna wrote.
The history of the café includes more than just the nearly 100-year-old walls. It seems it was alos the first restaurant in Waco to have refrigeration. In addition, the restaurant was visited by famous guests like Elvis Presley.
The Gaines hope to open the restaurant by the end of the year.
“People always say the restaurant business is a beast — and we believe that, we aren’t naive to the fact that this is all new to us — but we are genuinely thrilled that we get the opportunity to restore a Waco treasure into something new,” said Joanna.
In closing, Joanna added,
“Our hope is that when you step into this place, you know that everyone has a seat at our table.”
