Albuquerque, N.M– During what should have been a routine stop to serve an eviction notice, Bernalillo County deputies found something terrifying inside the home. Contained within the home were the mummified remains of a man who’s living wife said she was unable to face his death and never contacted the authorities when he passed away more than two years ago, back in 2015. The deputies contacted the Albuquerque Police Department when the gruesome discovery was made in the walk-in closet of the master bedroom.
The man was discovered propped up in a closet, where he often slept to help with his chronic back pain. He was found with a pillow behind his head and blankets covering him. Early last year the man’s son Tomas Huerta who lives in California had stopped by to introduce his pregnant girlfriend to his father, but when he arrived at the home, no one answered the door. Tomas was shocked when the discovery of his father’s remains was made and has since told reported just how difficult he is finding it to cope with the news. He tries not to think about the state in which his father was found.
Neighbors questioned the wife about the whereabouts of her husband when they noticed how long it had been since they’d seen him, but she brushed off their questions by replying that her husband was preparing for the ministry. In reality, she was keeping his remains inside their home where she continued to live until the recent eviction. Police have said that the woman was taken to a mental health hospital for evaluation where she will hopefully get the help she obviously needs. As for her husband, the cause of death is yet to be determined, but the wife reported that shortly before he died in April of 2015, her husband had been coughing up bile but despite her insistence refused to be taken to the hospital.
